This week is Literacy Week in St. Aidan's.
Literacy is all about being able to read and write but it's more that just the basics. Literacy involves being able to enjoy the reading or writing process. To engage with books and stories and to allow them to enrich our lives.
Throughout the week we will be promoting a love of reading and writing through different activites.
Drop Everything And Read. Once a day, the whole school will read at the same time for 10-15 minutes. Sr. Ann will make an announcement to indicate the start of our reading time.
Take a Book Tuesday
This is a book swap or exchange that will take place in the Parent's room every Tuesday in May. Adults from the area can come along, have a cup of tea and take or swap a book. Tell your parents, grandparents, aunties, uncles, neighbours or any one you think likes a good read to come down and have a look at the great books on offer.
Come and visit out response booth in the library. Tell us what book you're reading and why you're enjoying it. Anyone who has a go will be entered into a draw to come on a school trip to see The Lion King at the Bord Gais Theatre!
Book Review Competition
Write a review of your favourite book. Entries will be judged on content and effort and the winner will win a ticket to The Lion King musical!
Enter the Spelling Bee and test your spelling knowledge. The winner of the competition will win a ticket to The Lion King Musical.
