Mental Health Awareness Week

Monday 29th to May 3rd will be 'Mind Your Head' Week! We will be promoting mental health and well-being throughout the school. 

The messages for this week are for us all to become aware that our mental health is just like our physical health and at times our mental health can become unwell just like our physical health. 

There will be a few events happening throughout the school day.

Morning Club:

Diet and Nutrition and our Mental Health each morning.


Tutors will be showing students presentations each morning. Each of them has a short video clip. Here's it what they're about:


The importance of Sleep for our Mental Health: Students can complete throughout the week. Any returned sleep diaries on Thursday can we entered into a class draw. There will be a prize for the winner of the draw. 


: Cyber Bullying


Stress Management


Doing good for others helps you feel good- Random Acts of Kindness Day- There will be a bag of treats for each teacher to give out to any students who they see being kind to others.


SPHE teachers will be focusing on mental health lesson plans throughout the week.

Lunchtime Meditation

There will be lunchtime meditation for students between 12:30-1:00 with Mairead Q

Healthy Eating & Mental Health:

* Morning display in the main area to highlight the importance of diet and nutrition for mental health. There will be food sampling also

* There will be lunch provided for all staff on Thursday from 12:30

What should you do if you’re worried about your mental health or your friends? 

  • Tell someone you trust
  • Ask for help
  • Keep your normal everyday routine if possible
  • Relax and rest your body
  • Eat healthy foods
  • Visit your GP for advise
  • Talk to a mental health professional
  • Do activities you enjoy
  • Meditate
