On Friday the 15th of March St. Mels and St. Augustines went on a trip as part of our Environmental and Social Studies (E.S.S.) Junior Cert project.
We went to Tallaght Village on the 27 bus. When we got to the village we saw St. Mealruain’s Church. We looked around the Church and also visited the graveyard. In the graveyard we had a sheet to fill in with name and dates that we saw on the headstones.
After the graveyard we walked around the village. We saw the shops, the bank and the old, historical buildings. We saw the plaque on the wall between the Dragon Inn and the priory that remembers the Battle of Tallaght, which took place in 1867. We also saw a statue called ‘The Dancers’ by an artist called Antoinette Fleming.
When we finished the tour we all went to McDonald’s for lunch and when we finished it we went home. It was a lovely day. Thanks to Mr. Gilhawley, Ms. Sugrue, Mr. Anderson and Ms. Keane for organising the trip.
