First Years Meet with Author Sheena Wilkinson

On Friday the 9th of November 2012, St Ciaras 1st year went on a trip to Tallaght Library with Ms Hughes and Ms Flynn to meet award winning author Sheena Wilkinson. The class went to and from the Library by Luas.

Sheena Wilkinson talked about her childhood and how she always knew that she wanted to write books. Sheena said that another one of her dreams was to be a show jumper but that it was impossible because she didn’t own a horse and she didn’t have enough money.

Sheena is from Belfast and she is currently teaching in a secondary school. She talked about her two books ‘Taking Flight’ and ‘Grounded’. Sheena adds her love of horses to all of her books. Sheena shared with us great advice on becoming an author. She told us about publishers and using your imagination. She said that your imagination is like a muscle and if you don’t use it, it will turn to flab! Sheena Wilkinson is a truly inspiring person and I recommend everyone checks out her books.

After the library St. Ciaras made their way over to the square for some lunch. It was a great day.
