Accessing College Education is a second level access programme which was developed to support students from the three participating schools in West Tallaght (Mount Seskin Community College, St Aidans Community School, Killinarden Community School) to complete their leaving cert and progress onto third level.
There are two key elements to the Accessing College Education support programme.
- Student Support.
- Parent Support.
Student Support The programme runs in each participating school for 6th Year students. A range of supports are provided to a targeted group of senior cycle post primary students, as outlined below.
➢ Additional Taught Classes in a range of subjects.
➢ Supervised Study.
➢ Easter Revision Classes.
➢ Oral Language Examinations
➢ Saturday Maths workshops.
➢ Student scholarships.
Parent Support Programme.
➢ Each school has a parent education home visitor who visits the parents each term during the school year while their child is on the 6th year ACE Programme to ensure that there is always a flow of information between the parents and the school.
➢ Two Information Sessions are held for parents during the year.
